Queen of Pamunkey Remembered

Queen Cockacoeske of the Pamunkey Indian tribe was remembered May 26, 2011 at the Governor’s Palace in Williamsburg. She was instrumental in efforts with the early Virginia colonists in bringing Bacon’s Rebellion to an end and signed the Middle Plantation Treaty that guaranteed the Pamunkey Indians a reservation that exists to this day.
